Our basic treatment programme includes regular aeration and the frequent application of microbial foods to keep soil healthy and the microorganisms living in it active. Active soil life helps to reduce and prevent thatch build-up.
Many lawn problems can be traced back to excessive thatch (disease, grub infestation, susceptibility to drought damage) so caring for the soil is as important as caring for the grass itself.
Wherever possible we will use good quality low-salt fertilisers and other nutrition that supports and encourages beneficial microbial life in the soil. We avoid using cheap high-salt fertilisers that can have a dramatic, flush-growth effect on the grass in the short-term but at a long-term cost to lawn health.
